I had never heard of Jack Erwin before I started specifically searching for a loafer in a cherry color, and I am very glad I came across these.
The Edward is a very handsome loafer. Even though the shoe is unlined, it still has enough structure and substance that it does not feel flimsy or overly soft. The pebble grain calfskin looks great, and the Cherry color is easily one of the strongest features of the shoe. It is rich, distinctive, and extremely versatile.
The last does run somewhat narrow and elongated compared with loafers I own from brands such as Meermin, Jay Butler, and Beckett Simonon. I would not describe it as extremely narrow, but it definitely has a sleeker and slightly dressier profile.
That is actually part of what I like about the shoe. These lean a little more elegant than many casual loafers, but they are still versatile enough to dress down with chinos, denim, or more relaxed outfits.
Jack Erwin does not provide as much information about the sourcing of the leather as some other brands do, but based on the shoes themselves, I have no complaints about the quality. The leather looks good, the construction feels solid, and overall I am very happy with the purchase.
I would definitely recommend giving Jack Erwin a look, particularly their loafers. If you are a first-time customer, the introductory discount also makes them an even better value.
Very pleased with these, and the Cherry color is absolutely killer.
